I used Invision Power Board for the first time today. Its pretty complex and has more options than a sausage on sticks! Which do you guys prefer and why? I use PHPBB on one of my sites. its fast, free and does everything I need... or does it? ---------------------------------------------- The boards are written in PHP - so ideally this post should be in the Scripting forum. Am moving it there.... m^e

I need a forum in the website, and I want to know wich one do you guys think is the best one. I vote for InvisionPowerBoard. Free, easy, nice looking, customizable... Even though phpBB is also nice, but I don't know... I preffer Invision.

I am trying to decide which forum software I should install for my site. I need something free (obviously) and I need a good choice. I think phpBB works great but I am also interested in trying IceBB. Simple Machines Forum is time-consuming to configure and I don't like Invision Power Board (and that isn't free). I have tried testing out the forums at [url="http://opensourcecms.com"]OpenSourceCMS[/url] but there were way too many choices and the forums were just completely overwhelming

vBulletin And Invision Power Board
yes i know, there are alot of topics comparing them but everyone has thier own opinion and i want to give mine as well as hear a few. First of both vBB and IPB are very powerful forums, infact both the board have won awards for most powerful forum software available, now vbulletin (IMO) is a more proffesional forum, as it requires you edit the config.php.new file to set it up and does not have a script where you enter your information like IPB does, vBB is also more proffesional because it has

Is There Such A Thing As A "paid Moderator"
I'm currently a moderator at 2 sites, this one and a sportscard trading forum (over 7000 members, but I think only about 1000 are pretty active). At both sites, I've only became a moderator this year. Its a great learning experience in learning how to manage forums. Both have quite a bit of responsibility and require good decision-making skills. But has anyone ever heard of any forums that pay their staff anything? Just curious...

It should be like the one used in Vbulletin forums for posting/replying to a topic not the one used in IPB which use BBCode. I have two options either getting the control make by third party or creating it by scratch. Hello everyone. I've recently decided to start my own message board, so I downloaded Ikonboard 3.1.1 and I have no idea what to do with it to get it together and running. I need someone to walk me through this, or at least point me in the right direction.

Does Anyone Know Where I Can Get A Hold Of...
Microsoft Image Composer is a graphics program. I'm pretty sure that Microsoft didn't release it to the public. When I downloaded and used it, it was in beta stage and was free to download. It isn't as powerful and up-to-date as software like Adobe Photoshop but it could definitely come in handy once and a while because it has some filters that you don't ordinarily find on other graphics programs. Thanks.

Other, More Weird Forum Softwares
Well, today Ir elised more than ever that my beloved SMF is still the best. Today I was doing some tests of the new ->SMF convertors, which are amazing in their selfs, first all you need to specify it the old forum location and the new location, and it will find the database settings and everything by itself, once its got the data it emptys the SMF forum of its data and then moves the old data over. If the server load is going to be too large, it does it in small chunks, I think its 500 mess
